Our group of family & friends used ScubaFun during our 11 night vacation to the Dominican Republic (Bayahibe area). We stayed at the Viva Dominicus Palace, and ScubaFun had a taxi driver at the lobby promptly every morning to pick us up for the short drive to their shop. We were so glad we chose them because all other dive shops we saw around (including our resorts) had small glorified rowboats with a motor. The owner, Johnny, had four nice large diveboats, and the two we were on both had partial shade cover and bathrooms. There was also soda, amazing juicy mangos, and snacks aboard for the surface interval.
The staff was great! The DM's & instructors spoke good or native English and were fun guys. We enjoyed giving Rubio a hard time, and Igor went out of his way to find us good dive spots to hunt lionfish. Georgina was so sweet and helpful at the front desk and when she came along to help with a Discover scuba course for my son's friends. Paul did the course and was so patient and encouraging with them...a terrific instructor! My son's girlfriend was terribly nervous and she couldn't have had a better person to teach her. They also cleaned and stored our gear and had it on the boat in the morning.
We also did the Enriched Air course while there, and Johnny took the time to show us his air setup and the fancy new machine and filters he had for filling tanks. He was proud that he offered the cleanest air on the island. He runs a great operation, and goes above and beyond! He even helped my Dad arrange to get some good Dominican cigars, going so far as to drop off samples and then the boxes he wanted at our resort! He was easy to contact by phone or email, and always responded swiftly to our many questions.
We enjoyed our time with them and would definitely use them again. Highly recommend!
