Scubacaribe at Grand Palladium Riviera Maya?

We just book a great deal at the Palladium and have heard both + and - comments on the local Scubacaribe dive op.
Convenience is that it is right there...but don't like the idea of no pier and launching off the beach.

Also found a tidbit that the dive op was recently bought out, so I am looking for comments about the new organization and how they run the business.

We have separately contacted Tim and Katherin at Blue Experience (formerly Bluecaribe?) in Akumal at the Oasis Tulum Resort 2 mi south of town. They claim only a 10 minute ride from the hotel and they pick up.

Any comparisons/commentary would be appreciated

I am there and just did ten dives with the on-site dive shop, Underwater Technical World. We board the boat from the beach but it is not too bad, at least we are not carrying our tanks. Wear booties or water shoes as there is a lot of coral in the water. Check out this post.

The operators in Playa launch off the beach. I've never found it to be an issue.
