I feel this is redundant but I cannot help myself from repeating it: I learn so much here. Yesterday evening a stunningly gorgeous humuhumu-nukunuku-a-pua’a kept circling me as I labored in surge to cover apparently already claimed sand.

It took several passes before I figured the electric turquoise and yellow along with the exceptional shadings and dramatic black and white were probably enhanced by my new SeaVision rose lens mask and not that my tank had been filled with paco lolo nearby. First I saw two, but then just one would approach slowly from my right and pause before my face before darting back on my left to circle round again. I was feeling pretty blessed with all this attention and slowed down the savor the moment when I felt something ‘tug?’ at a fin. Wrapped up in enjoying the extraordinary beauty of this fish, another ‘tug’ happened before I gave it much thought.

A free diver? I wondered, looked around and saw nothing - tug. Stopped now, calmly thinking before reacting – another tug...tug. Tugtug. Tug TUG! Bewildered now, what on earth could I be contacting; I tilted my head in the universal quizzical gesture to the left just as that beautiful little bugger’s pointy snout appeared quite large in my right lens.

Ah ha! I saw the :idea3: appear overhead in a Eureka! moment of enthusiastic joy of recognition; I was being attacked :whack: by a triggerfish! This quickly shifted however to less blissful memories of terriers. He appeared fed up with my alien ignorance of social customs and swiftly switched tactics to rapid fire bombardment from all angles :lurk2:as I, at last aware of my blunder, slowly built the twin jets up to full steam ahead.

So. Mahalo to all that spoke of such things wherever it was I read of them. I know not what reaction or action I may have taken without your enlightenment. But, I did experience a

moment there...fish swim a lot faster than I can swat underwater and he claimed a good sized portion of the ocean.

I hope kayakdiver doesn’t mind I used his photo. From a google search it is the one I liked best, PM sent.

Great narrative... thanks.
