hey all:

once again, not sure if this is the right forum, but does anybody on this board attach a strobe to their anchor line maybe 10' off the bottom? something that's maybe submersible to 130' or so? maybe a diver-friendly method of getting back to the anchor line? this is not a technical applicatiion (not trying to re-do the spiegel grove debacle), just looking for a a good low-viz method of returning to the anchor line. thanks!

Do you mean some sort of light that is always on? A strobe is for a Camera.

Tektite Xenon Strobe 300 from LeisurePro.com is typical of the many commercial products available.

Yes, one application for this type of strobe is as a high intensity flasher to mark the anchor line. I've been on several dives where the dive operator rigged one partway up the anchor line. It does kill your night vision though.

http://www.diversdirect.com/items/Princeton-Tec-Aqua-Strobe_ID4759 is another example which is a bit cheaper.

The term 'strobe' can be a bit confusion since there are three types ---
camera strobes,
high power xenon strobes like above, and
low power flashing led tank marker lights that some divers call strobes.

My wife and I carry a Trident DL05 as part of our safety equipment but you can also use them as U/W markers. You can find a picture and description at

I bought ours from BOB3, a member here on Scubaboard and am quite happy with them and with BOB3's price and customer service.
