Well, I have a couple questions and perhaps there is a better forum catagorie out there which someone could kindly direct me to but here I am now so these are the questions.

I've been diving for some time now and I have come to a point in my life where I have decided that I would really like to be an instructor and guide. Of course I'll need my certifications. So, someone out there with much knowledge of dive centers, where would you suggest getting my certifications? Keeping in mind quality of marine life, instruction and equipment, accommodation and internship cost.

My other question is; What can an instructor expect for an average salary and where would be the busier, higher paying locations?

After a year or two of experience I would consider purchasing a partnership in a dive centre but for now I would want to add some credits to my resume first.

Thanks for any advice you smart people out there can give me!!!

I suggest you check out our Going Pro Forum: Going Pro

Here's a recent article on the subject as well. There are lots of threads talking about what to expect if you want to Go Pro, I recommend spending a little time reading through them.

It's a big jump to go from rec diver to DM/Instructor/Owner, etc. Many people do make the jump and many starve themselves out while attempting to make it.
Check out the Going Pro forum. There are plenty of threads discussing this very thought.

Talk with folks at your local dive shops and dive operations about your thoughts/goals. They should be able to give you some info too.

Whatever you decide...the best of luck to you.
