Hi, I'm just hoping for some opinions for scuba diving in northern NSW. I am trying to line up a job to work there soon and I am just not sure about the diving inthose areas... My options for work at Byron Bay, Lismore, Tweed Heads and Coffs Harbour... from what I have researched, it seems Byron Bay is the best of those?

I'm not certified as of yet, I've just done some discovery dives in Hawaii, Costa Rica and Grand Cayman.

Any opinions on these places and dive shops should be greatly appreciated, and sorry for the noob question!

Thanks!

I can't speak to the other places, but the diving in Byron Bay is fabulous, and the area is lovely. We stayed in BB, at a bed and breakfast called Planula Lodge, which was lovely, but we also visited business associated in Bangalore, which was a lovely small town. If you can obtain work in the region, I don't think you'd be unhappy for quality of life, or quality of diving. We would really and truly like to come back and spend time there. Of all the places we have visited in our travels, it was the only one where we said, "We could live here."

thanks for the reply,
I've had a couple friends that all have stayed there for a while and they always mention it as a "must see" place when talking aus. from what i have researched it seems awesome town.. but i just didn't know about the diving, but it seems good from what i have read/seen. I was actually surprised when I was told about a possible job opportunity.

Thanks again!

Hi mate. Check out the Aussie diving thread too. We are diving Byron tallest fortnightly at the moment (were just there on Sunday again too). The diving is great. I have a couple of videos up. If you can get a job in Byron, then you are living the dream. I'd love one there myself! N terms of dice shops there, checkout Sundive.

That said, Coffs is a larger town with more infrastructure, and the Solitaries are amazing diving also. Check out jetty dive there.

What other info are you chasing?

That should be good, much appreciated.. great footage that you posted on the other thread, looks like there is always an abundance of sealife! And I will surely look into sundive if i end up there. Hopefully I am lucky enough to work there. Thanks
