We're scuba diving in Cozumel, but at our other port, our cruise ship doesn't offer a diving excursion in Progresso, Yucatan Mexico. Has anyone used a good dive operator at that port?

Thanks,

The water vis that I have seen there would not offer much of a dive experience. It is a lot like Galveston. Maybe some decent dive sites way out but I doubt it.

There are awesome dive sites off of Progresso, Alacranes Reef. It is a world heritage site and diving is not allowed by the Mexican Government. If you happen to own a research boat, you get to dive it. :D

Ever dived there? Jesse C has been a few times. I had an invite to join him once, declined due to a schedule conflict and the cost$$$. Wishing now I had made the changes and ponied up to make it happen. Opportunities like that don't pass by very often.

When I was there last February the tour operator that we used offered cave diving to certified cave divers. Nobidy else in the group was Cave certified so I didn't go diving.

So they didn't offer a cenote-type dive option, similar to that generally available throughout the Yucatan?
