Has anyone purchased from either of the two above? I'd appreciate any and all feedback..I'm going to check out Larry's ScubaToys.com also, but I'd be interested in what experiences people have had with LeisurePro and Scuba.com..

Thank you.

Mike. :crafty:

yeah... well.... :33:

this is a fairly well-covered subject on here; your best bet is to do a search
on those terms, you'll see tons of threads on them.

i've bought from scuba.com once, went well

i've bought from LP tons of times; have had no problems with anything, ever.

i've never bought anything from ScubaToys, but i've heard nothing but good
things about their stuff and staff

I've purchased from LeisurePro a few times and have had decent luck with them. A few minor issues I ran into were:

1) They sell on eBay too....and their Buy It Now price on eBay was well over and above their website/catalog price. I thought I was getting a good deal, but ended up paying more for it because I had never heard of them and didn't know they were a big business. As long as you stay with the website costs, all is good.

2) The dive computer (Suunto Vyper) I bought from them came with a GERMAN manual. That ticked me off a little bit. I had to download and print out the English manual over the internet.

3) Another thing is that they could be a little more descriptive with some of their items. I purchased a couple of things like some EMT shears and a retractor that were huge!..but looked small in the picture. I had to return the retractor. They have good customer service, so next ime I will call and ask ahead of time.

Other than that..they seem to a pretty good operation.

I've been buying from LP for years and never had a problem, good prices.

Quite a few differences between Leisurepro/Scuba.com and Scubatoys... I've done business with all of them, so here's my opinion:

Leisurepro has a huge selection, but 75% of it isn't covered by a factory warranty. I've also had negative experiences with their sales staff, and often the item isn't exactly as advertised.

Scuba.com is the same as Diver's Discount. They are, at least, an authorized dealer for their products, so warranty shouldn't be a concern. They were the first online company I gave business to, and I didn't have any complaints. I haven't used them for years though...

Scubatoys is an authorized dealer for the products they sell online. They also have great prices, and are extremely knowledgable about the products they sell. They are more then happy to discuss all of your equipment choices with you, and help you decide on what is right for you. Do a search for them... you won't find someone complaining about Scubatoys.. and if they did, I guarentee you that they didn't speak with Scubatoys about resolving their problem.

If you're hard pressed to buy Scubapro/Apeks/Aqualung gear, and aren't worried about having a factory warranty (although it's -very- valuable), you could use leisurepro.

However, if you're after a factory warranty.. give Scubatoys a shot. Great company, no complaints.

There are tons of threads on this, but the short version is:

I've bought once from scuba.com and didn't have the greatest experience. Everything was eventually resolved amicably, but I had to get the Better Business Bureau (I can never spell that word) involved before it was. They were also pretty slow in getting my merchandise to me.

I've never bought from leisurepro. Their prices are outstanding, but they are not an authorized dealer for many items they sell, meaning you do not get a factory warranty.

I've used scubatoys.com several times and could not be more pleased. Everyone there (especially Larry) is extremely friendly, helpful and willing to provide advice. They will cheerfully match leisurepro's prices and are authorized dealers for everything they sell, so you get factory warranty. They also typically ship your item immediately after they hang up the phone with you - very quick delivery. Unless scubatoys does not carry your item (and they carry more than is shown on their website), there is no reason to buy online anywhere else.

Scubatoys gets my vote, all of the threads I have seen on this board speak highly of them. I had my order within days (even to Canada), and the prices are great!

Mike

i haven't purchased from any of the above but I did talk to Larry at ScubaToys today and all I can say is that I was more than impressed with the conversation.

With all that I have heard on this board, I can tell you that they have my vote and I can't wait to make a purchase from them!!

I have made several purchases through scuba.com over the past month or two. I have been extremely pleased with the products and service they offer. They are an online retailer, but also have a storefront location in Orange County, CA. They are an authorized dealer on all the products they sell, unlike LP. A great thing about scuba.com is they will match prices on anything they sell if you find it lower on another site. They also have a wide selection of gear available.
