Hi everyone,
Scouts Canada is developing a 9 part badge series on underwater exploration (which naturally has a huge scuba component in it.)
There is a draft of what we've got (Google docs, with public commenting turned on)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i0M_J7EUPTZJIPe5dh3Q2jsgbW7q2wJwgadKHjG4N3A/edit
Keep in mind, Scouts Canada's programs go from 5-26. The first stage is designed to be achieved by a 5-6 year old, the stage 9 by a 20+ year old) Given the climate up here (pretty much anything open water is a 7/14 wet or drysuit) that open water and above does have some age limitations.
Thoughts on the skills progression/requirements are welcome. This badge series is part of a fairly major program change Scouts Canada is implementing to attract and engage youth and we've had great success with scuba pilot programs with some fairly large Venturer Scout Companies (14-17) focusing pretty much exclusively on diving.
Thanks!
