Does anyone own or has anyone used a DPV (dive propulsion vehicle)?
I am looking at a SEADOO SEA SCOOTER, they sell on ebay for around $350.00
A lot cheaper than they used to be, however are they just an expensive toy or are
they a usefull diving aid for scuba?
Regards MickO

The Seadoo is a toy. This isn't:

They are useful for cave diving (see http://www.gue.com/sites/wkp/overview.shtml).

It really depends on what your going to do with it.

In August I was diving on Maui and Lanai for a week. I had some new equipment and wanted to do a check-out dive with an instructor. We did a shore entry dive with lightweight scooters. It was a gas, and we were able to cover widely separated reefs in a short period of time.

I wouldn't buy a scooter as a piece of standard equipment, but you might look into doing a scooter dive with your LDS or the dive operator on your next trip to 80 degree water. It was really a lot of fun. Actually rather James Bondian. :D

I doubt the WKPP would ever use a Farallon/Dive Rite Arrow :D

i agree , nor would you ever see JJ using a travel wing:)
