There are a few budget options in Stromness, most of the diving outfits have ones they can recommend. Seems like I saw some with bunk rooms which should be quite reasonable.

A trip to the Orkneys would be worthwhile even without the diving, this was our favorite place in all of Scotland.

Yes, Browns Hostel is nice, about 150m from the harbour and tumbling distance to the local bars - last time we stayed there was about £20 pp/night - the nearest syha is Kirkwall whilst a good place to stay isn't ideal for diving the Flow

Do I want to learn dry suit? Because I won't have much use for it in SE Asia.
