I've been corresponding with a person allegedly from England who wants my shop to charge his card $6000 extra to pay a travel provider that has not been disclosed to me.

they have a group that wants training over 4 days, but it seems fishy. Anybody else get this kind of solicitation?

thanks

This is a scam do not charge the card or anything. We get these emails all the time- there is another thread on this board right now talking about this scam.

Classic "overpayment" scheme. Put "Phishing for divers" into SBs search thread and you can read all about it.

Ive gotten the same email right now 3 times. One saying they are from England, One saying they are from Boston, and one saying they are from Japan. All were worded about the same. Asking me for Basic Scuba Training. I find it funny since I run a Hydro Shop, not a dive buisness.

Here's our form response, CC and paste as needed with dirtbag du jour's name:
We told you we would *NOT* accept prepayment by credit card for
your group unless you were here and swiped your credit card in person.
Further, we would not under any circumstances act as a payment intermediary
for your logistic consultant. We teach and outfit people for scuba diving
and snorkeling. We do not process check or credit card payments for others.
We will not participate in the transactions you propose in any way.

Thanks all. After I told them I couldn't process their transaction, they lost interest. Go figure...

Wouldn't "Send cash" be easier to type?

:D

I've had this e-mail two times in the past week. Story line the same:

I have 3 clients Mr./Mrs.[insert made up names, usually 1 of which is Smith] looking to come _____. Send me total cost.

I tell them to pay the total cost direct bank transfer or we can't process their reservation, and never heard back form them.
