I almost wound up in the "incidents and accidents."

My kid is out of school this and next week. Tuesday, we dove. Wednesday, we went to the pistol range. Today (Thursday) was so nice that we decided to go sailing.

We went by Subway and picked up some sandwiches, chips and sodas. The fellow making the sandwiches asked if I wanted jalapeno peppers on mine. I told him to put them on the side. He complied.

So, we're out sailing and have our lunch. I finish my sandwich and most of my chips and then find the jalapenos. I'm enjoying the jalapenos and chips and driving the boat. I finish.

A bit later, the breeze starts making my right eye tear. I reach to rub it. Suddenly, I remember the thread about hot peppers and realize that I'm about to touch my eye with the fingers I'd been using to eat the jalapenos. I froze. Then I used something else to rub my eye.

The discussion of hot peppers saved me from a fate worse than death. Thanks SB.

dude, bruce, that was close

but you were in a boat... you could have just jumped overboard to wash
your eye out!

(wus)

Had I rubbed my eye, I would have jumped overboard to drown myself and put myself out of my misery, not to wash my eyes. Andy, I guess you've never been to MDR. Our water is not really suitable for washing.

After today's sail, I added eye wash to my first aid kit.

Speaking of first aid kits, I've got the wax portion of from a toilet ring in my first aid kit (I've also got that in my dive bag). It can be used to plug any kind of small leak in a boat or to help in sealing a large one. In 40 years, the only time I've almost had a boat sink out from under me was when we lost a through-hull while racing someone else's boat. A wooden plug and my toilet wax we saved the boat.

if I ever buy a boat, I'll have to get some toilet wax for the tool kit. Great idea.

tsk tsk...

tstk tsk tsk...

it's not DIR to go sailing in waters you can't wash in, now, is it?

. . . I added eye wash to my first aid kit. . . . .
Good idea. I may steal that thought. Thanks for sharing

i was out getting some replacement supplies for my first aid kit today and I added an eye wash to the kit.

Good idea.

Thanks,

Mike...

It's not DIR to go sailing period! Unless you drive a black boat and have a back up boat bungied to your primary...
