Wondering if any fellow SB members will be on the Norwegian Dream cruise ship departing Houston on December 16th.

I will be diving both Cozumel and Belize during the trip and would be interested in teaming up with 1 or more fellow divers on the cruise.

This will be the 3rd time diving Coz while in port on a cruise. Pretty simple to make your own arrangements which saves alot of $$$ plus you can avoid "cattle boats" and visit better dive sites.

My wife and daughter (15) will be on the cruise as well but they will not be diving. They will probably hang out on the beach in Coz, perhaps do a Zip-Line shore excursion in Belize, and all 3 of us will visit some Aztec ruins while in port in Progreso, Mexico.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss any trip details.

We'll be doing the same trip in Feb,2007. Let us know if the Piers are up in Coz and how Lynda Searle is doing in belize city....

My wife and I just got back from the 12-2 to 12/9 cruise to Coz and Belize. Talk about bad weather! The stop in Playa del Carmen was cancelled due to the wind, and even with that extra 1.5 hrs the Capt shut down the HVAC about 8 at night to put all available power to the propellers. The wind must have been blowing 70 miles an hour directly at us. The cabins soon got too hot for human life and every one was gathered on the aft deck 8, wrapped in towels for warmth. We looked like survivors from the Titanic! The diving in Coz was so-so. We saw 2 big hawksbill turtles and a ray. It was so cloudy and dark that there were no coral colors till we looked at our pictures! It was so windy the dive boat couldn't drop us at the pier and we had to go up the coast to a bay and be ferried back by taxi. The dive operators were great! This was our first cattle boat excursion and all 7 of us were herded into a boat for 28. We had PLENTY of room! Belize the next day looked to be the same, but on the way to Turneffe, the sun came out the wind died down and it was beautiful. The Dive Op was Hugh Parkey, and again the 7 of us were herded onto a beautiful fast boat that had to be for 50 people. It was an hour out at a steady 26 knots and they even took us to the far side of the atoll so we would be leeward of the wind. It was much like Roatan, which actually isn't that far away. Lots of juveniles, great wall dive. On both days we were allowed to stay down as long as our air lasted, not forced to come up when the first diver ran out. 1st dive were to 80 ft and gradually back up. 2nd dives were to 40-50 ft. The Belize dive included chips, salsa, fruit and soft drinks as well as water and we were treated great! When we got back to Houston it was 40 degrees outside. It is warmer here in Denver! Bring some warm clothes, you may not be hanging out by the pool very much!
Cheers,
Curt

Sorry to hear that you had such poor weather during most of your trip Curt - at least you had some nice dives in Belize.

We are still a little more than a week away from our dives in both Belize and Cozumel so hopefully we have a little better luck with the weather although the forecast for this coming week is pretty poor. Even if the weather does clear up by the time we visit those ports, I suspect that the vis will be the worst that I have ever had in either loacation since there is likely to be alot of rain runoff from the shore.
