Hi peeps!

I've been surfing for diving information and advice since I got my OW certification 2 weeks ago and chanced upon SB...it's been fantastic with the wealth of information and advice offered and the friendliness of SB'ers make learning so much less daunting coz I realised there's a lot to learn!

The wealth of information available here is amazing and I could just get stuck on the forums for a few hours at one go ;)

Thank you once again and it's back to reading the forums for me! :D

Welcome, claudine! As you'll soon find, sometimes you can spend MORE than a few hours at one go. Sometimes I get so back-logged in my work and responsibilities due to my playing on SB I have to stay away for a week or more at a time to catch up! LOL.

Warning: SB can be addicting. But it's a fun addiction to have. :D

claudine, I feel the same way. We finished our class and pool sessions earlier this week and are doing our OW cert dives this weekend. Throughout, I've been reading SB and although it can be a little intimidating to realise exactly how much it is I don't know, I've also learned a lot already, picking up some tips from SB veterans that I was able to put into practice. You do have to wade through things a bit but I've come away with some good insight and advice to take to heart.

Welcome to Scubaboard claudine. There is a lot of info here, and some not so good advice smattered about.

Anyway, it's a fun place and you're right, one can lose a lot of time reading through the threads.

Welcome to SB, Claudine.

I absolutely agree with you about ScubaBoard. In addition to the many hours I spend reading the various threads, I've met many of its members to dive or to just hang out...they ROCK!!!

Safe dives.

Including the above poster!! You can learn a lot from Sam if you follow her threads!

It only gets better as you learn more...

Thanks for all your warm welcome and advice!! SB is a really good place to start learning as the moderators emphasize on being friendly to new divers and this really helps!!

jupitermermaid, ScubaSam...haha yes a few hours is an understatement sometimes but I think I would suffer from withdrawal symptoms if I keep away for a week!! Oh gosh :D

kavatski...good luck on your OW dives this wkend!!! Dive safe and have loads of fun ;)

An important message I picked up in SB is about being responsible for myself and as this wasn't mentioned a lot during my OW class...I'm really glad for the advice provided by the veterans in SB!
