I will be coming to Sarasota for a vacation from Sept. 1-8. My girlfriend and I are both certified and would like to do a little diving while there. We are thinking about trying to do a beach dive or two and a boat dive to look for Megalodon teeth. So I have a few questions for everyone.

1. Can anyone recommend a good local dive shop for us to rent equipment.
2. Can anyone recommend a good boat/captain for us to use to dive this boneyard i've been reading about.
3. Has the hurricane done much damage to the area or the affected to diving?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you all in advance.

This is no beach diving from sarasota unless you want to look at empty sand. It's been too many years since I was there to recommend a dive op.

Feel free to give us a call at Florida West Scuba and Charters, located in Venice (941-486-1400) and/or check out our web site. We have a full rental department featuring Aqualung dive gear. We also operate our USCG Certified dive boat the Hammerhead. We specialize in fossil diving, and can lead you in the right direction if you choose to beach dive.
