I really enjoyed going to Cuba last Feb. I went to Club Bucanero, near Santiago De Cuba. The diving was great! Huge coral reefs, canyons between the reefs, tons of fish, morays, lobsters. Dive shop right in the hotel. Steel scuba tanks, rental shop, gear in good condition. Some wreck diving available, but mostly shore diving right from the beach. Hotel basic but very clean. I'd go again. And all for under $800 all inclusive.

We usually return to Santiago de Cuba every year This year we will be going back in April. We stay at the Sierra Mar and the diving has been good, you can do the wrecks of the Spanish/American war or any one of the reefs. Sierra Mar has thier own dive shop with excellent staff and you can leave your gear with them they will usually do two dives a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon & if you get enough people they will do a night dive but if you plan on night diving take a few lights (extra for others if you can)

Thanks for the info! Wingnut is my DH, and we didn't end up making that trip to Santiago. The tourcompany cancelled the trip as the plane wasn't booked enough. We ended up in San Andres instead, which was a bonus, as Canada isn't doing charters there any longer.

So, we're hoping to finally make it to Santiago this June. Thanks for the input!
