I remember from SI's San Francisco Beach being a pretty nice stretch of sand, I have promised my non-diving SO a beach next dive vacation and I see Occidental Grand is on San francisco, any thoughts from recent trips on the Grand and the beach?

Be prepared to pay top dollar to stay at that property. Yes, the beach is quite nice, but the beach at the Allegro is just a bit nicer.

This beach club appears to be under new management and I have received reports that they are now charging a $5 fee to use their facility. The fee is understandable, but in this case maybe not. They do not apply it towards any purchase you make and even after my friends ordered, they were continually harassed to order more. When they refused to place another order, they were told they would have to leave. There are plenty of beautiful beach clubs available so in my opinion, find your beach chairs elsewhere.

What? Do you pay by the word for your internet access? ;^)

It's a nice beach and it stretches beyond the grand's property. We stayed in a rental house about 300 yards up the beach from the grand and our beach was just as good as theirs.

I didn't tour much of the property, but I was not all that impressed with the grand by the way. The bar near the beach had a very pod-people all-inclusive vibe to it, though I might be a bit sensitive to that kind of thing.

Really was rushed... Also, have difficulty typing!!!

I have not heard a word about the Allegro since it opened!!!

Would be interested in hearing from someone who has stayed there...post "Wilma"
