We did a quick trip to San Carlos over the weekend. Water temps were in high 50's on the local sites we did and low 60's on San Pedro Nolasco Island. Air temps were in the high 70's.
Visibility was blown out on the local dive sites we tried. It was so bad at one location that we could not see the bottom until we landed on it. Needless to say, our dive at that site did not last long. There was a tremendous amount of surge present and it had things pretty well churned-up. This time of year seems to be windy as well.
The diving was much better out at San Pedro Nolasco Island. Unfortunately, the ride out to the island rough and wet. We had about 50 feet of visibility at the Rookery site on southern end of the island and there were lots of sea lions. Hopefully, a couple of my dive partners got some decent video as the critters swirled around us.
A good day of diving out at the island was good compensation for our bad day of trying to hit local sites.
