Samana, Dominican Republic Dive Shop Recommendation

We are going to Samana, Dominican Republic by cruise ship later this month and need some dive shop recommendations. We haven't found much close by and are hoping someone has a suggestion?
We found a dive excursion on shoretrips.com.... but the taxi ride is 50 minutes from the cruise pier. Definitely hoping to find something closer!

Samana area is not a very good destination for scuba diving. That part is well known for whale watching during the whale season (January - March), really nice nature around but not too good for scuba diving. I believe there isn't even scuba diving allowed in some parts, so that's why you cannot find any dive shop closer then the one you found. We had people coming from a resort from Samana coming here to dive with us (about 4 - 4.5 hours drive), but since you have very limited by time, it's impossible for you to do it.

There is a new Scuba Diving Shop called H2O who just opened in the town of Samana
as of October 15, 2011.
