This may be a dumb question, but please don't make fun of me... some of the theory I learned in the basic course has gotten me scared!! My hubby and I are doing the Pro-Dive 3D/2N liveaboard in three weeks (he's already certified, I'll be completing my OW dives onboard). The dives likely finish up before lunch the last day of the trip. Is it safe in terms of altitude for us to head up to Kuranda via rail/skycar the next day?

Thanks!
Lori

I would say so. You say you will be done by noon and will be going up the mountain the next day, I wouldnt worry about it as you leave a good amount of time (overnight), if you have or will be using a computer see what is says, if you dont have one, usually a day is enough to disperse any gas really, it depends on how many dives you do per day as well really.

My wife and I have done several 3 day trips with Pro-dive and done the trip up to Kuranda with no problem. We like to take the rail up and the cable car down. Make shure you leave with enough time before darkness to get off at the cable car stops to walk around on the trails and take plenty of water with you.

Enjoy Cairns it is a great city.

Not a problem - a) the Village of Kuranda is possibly 1400 ft above sea level at highest point, and you should not be concerned until 10,000+ feet. It's a full day from around 8:30am to 5:30pm, and a personal favorite is done by booking thru Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Center to begin the day there(include lunch-excellent), then Skyrail up, and train down. A full but very good day.
