Has anyone stayed at Orchid Cottage at Julianas in Saba?

We are looking into a trip there May 2007.

I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

We stayed at Flossie's Cottage at Julianna's. It was very nice. Our daughter was a little taken aback that Flossie was buried right outside the front door. I believe that the Orchid cottage is the one that has a/c and an outdoor shower. (This is a feature, not a negative.) We wanted to stay in the Orchid but it was already booked. We loved Julianna's and will stay there again. Have a great trip!!!!
BTW we dove with Sea Saba and Lynn was great to make all reservations on the island for us. Don't believe all that you read about how crazy the flight is from St. Maartin. It was no big deal. In fact, it was incredible. No white knuckles at all....

We never stayed at the Orchid Cottage but we did go through it and it is very nice, the outdoor bathroom is very cool but you will share it with the little lizards that are all over the Island. Just something to think about?

One other thing to consider is the flight from St Maartin. If the weather turns windy or real cloudy or it's raining don't count on your flight getting out because Winward air won't be flying. This usually means that you get to stay an extra day or 2 or maybe even 3 because if it's really bad weather and the Ocean is rough the Ferrie won't be going anywhere either. Don't let this scare you off just take it into account and be prepared for the possibility.

We were there in May for 2 weeks and the flights didn't fly on more than one occasion. We got lucky though and never had any problems with ours but it does screw you up if it happens and you're on a tight schedule, because by the time you find out your flight isn't going the Ferrie has come and gone usually.

It's great. Our kids and their spouses stayed there last May (the old folks got an apartment at Juliana's which was also fine) and absolutely loved it. It's big enough for all six of us to relax in. The porch is great for sitting and viewing and has nice shade. The shower is only partially outdoors. The only issue at all is that someone wasn't very vigilant about cleaning up after their dog so you needed to be careful walking back and forth to the cottage.

We dove with Saba Deep, as we always do. Steve was our dive master this time and was great at making sure everyone had a good time. Our daughter is not fond of boats so their style of coming back between dives was perfect for her.
