Hi, We have thought about diving at Saba but so far it looks likes the lodging is at a higher altitude than what is recommended for multiple dives on multiple days. Our thereplaces to stay where we would not have to deal with the altitude problem.... Thanks much.
Hi,
First and foremost, we have dived Saba and just loved it. We went with Sea Saba and thought they were just excellent. We also stayed at "altitude" (Juliana's) and did not feel any adverse effects. DAN did a study in 1990, the results of which indicated that diving Saba and returning to places like Juliana's was safe. Here is a summary of their research:
DAN report ---------------------------------
The one thing about Saba that you should know is that nearly all the diving is deep. So, good air management skills are very advisable.
Also, if you have a "day off", climbing Mt. Scenary is fun. It can be steep in a few places, but if you go on a very clear day, the scene from the summit is intoxicating!
