Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to underwater photography and have purchased an s95 w/ikelite housing. How do shots come
out using the built in flash for close up shots? Is a strobe absolutely required? I don't have the Fix uwl-40 yet
but I was wondering while equipped does it take nice shots also without an external strobe? I plan on
eventually getting a strobe but wondering how pictures come out without one.

For now I'm interested in macro type shots and close ups somewhere within 3'

I have yet to use the camera underwater! can't wait! My only experience so far has been with the SeaLife DC1200 w/strobe.

Thanks!

No way the internal strobe is gonna work well with the WA lens attached.

Even 3' is a lot for the built in strobe.

You will need an external strobe or two for use with any wide angle lens for closeups. For wide angle shots in shallow, clear water, you might can do without any strobe but obviously you are seriously limited with no fill flash capability for near objects.

Thanks for the feedback, i'll make sure to get the strobe(s) along with the lens I've chosen.
