Anyone here used the S60 with WP-DC40 housing? If so, any comments? Potential users want to know!

Thanks,

I bought the Canon s50 with housing in June, because the housing for the s60 wasn't available at the time, and I didn't want to wait. I love it! Once I figured out how to disable the built-in flash, set the white balance manually, and compensate for shutter lag, I started getting satisfactory results. I could use more wide angle, and closer focus for macro shots, but Canon addressed both issues when they replaced the s50 with the s60. All of the underwater photos on our website www.BlueWaterDiver.net were shot with the s50 as 5mp jpegs, and published low rez to keep the file size/load times down. Let me know what else you need.

I used my S60 with DC-40 in Cozumel last month and they worked great! It was easy to use and just slightly bouyant (weights are available if that's a problem). Close-in photos turned out great, but an external flash would definitely help for more distant shots. I especially liked the movie mode which I used to "film" us cruising along the reefs.

We just got from Kauai last week where I took some dive and snorkling shots with the s60/wpdc40 combo. I like the fact you can turn the camera off to save batteries, also the diffuser is nice as well. The main problem I had at first was not using the LCD Hood, big mistake. That solved and I could now see what I was aiming at. That led to my next problem, bouancy control and taking pics in a surge. I can see now it will take many more dives to develop the skills needed to take great photos. I took all my underwater photos in RAW mode so that White balance/exp could be adjusted. Even though the S60 has an underwater balance setting, it is far from perfect. Being able to adjust this in software turned unusable shots into printable photos. The camera is an amazing balance of size/function/price. While its not my daughters 10D, it certainly is a lot easier to carry in my pocket for most of my photographic needs. When I get around to it I'll export some Jpegs to the board so you can see what I mean with a few before/after pics. Edit to add: Pics are up in my Gallery so you can see my first attempts at underwater photography with the S60

I bought the S60 and housing back in July and I love it. The camera takes great pictures both in and out of the water. The quality of the lense and the number of features that are packed into a relatively compact camera are hard to match. Highly recommended!
