I'm a Fish!
I am trying to decide if I want to put my Cannon S1 IS in a housing

or would I be ok with the Ikelite?

I am not wanting to be a professional photographer (obviously) but just
want some U/W photos. I HATE taking film to be developed but also don't
want to ruin my digital camera by flooding the housing...

Any sugesstions or comments?

Thanks!!

I'd go with the Canon S1 IS housing, digital has a number of things going for it which I think are a huge benefit to the beginning underwater photographer.

Immediate review of picture, somewhat lower costs to start off with ( no film developing costs etc.).

Bottom line I'd house the camera and dive with it :).
There are a couple of ways to decrease the risk of your camera flooding, meticulously inspect the oring, make sure the housing is closed properly, grease the oring etc.

Now nothing can guarantee that your housing won't flood, but I think by taking these precautions chances are it won't.

Canon S1 IS is a nice camera, manual controls and all that and I think you'd be able to take good pictures with it with just a little bit of practice.

My two cents :).

Thanks for the info/advice - I found on the Cannon web site how to prepare housing for a dive - looks like the housing will be the better way to go for me.:fish: :fish:
