My sister and I are planning a trip to the Maldives in November and are wondering if anyone has been on the S/Y Maldives Siren. We are particularly interested in the 10 day Central Itinerary that runs in November. My other option is the Manthiri which seems to get the most votes for the best liveaboard in the Maldives. I've heard great things about the Sea Queen/Sea Spirit, but understand their food is quite heavy on the curries, etc. and I don't like that kind of food. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Damsel - the Maldives Siren is brand new to the Maldives - her first charter is for July 14-24 but she has very skilled and professional owners who have operated this particular boat in Thailand, Andaman Islands, and Komodo for about 3 years. The Siren is a lovely boat with spacious comfortable cabins and plenty of space on deck. We have already chartered her many times and have a full charter on her in October. I think she will bea good choice for your trip. By the way, their partner in the Maldives will be another top operator who will provide the guides and experience to ensure they know the best sites. Manthiri is excellent as are the Sea Queen and Sea Spirit, but some of the advantages to the Siren are that she includes all drinks inclusing soft drinks and beers, she includes free nitrox fills, and she includes free rental of all necessary scuba gear, although you may want to bring your own wetsuit and computer. I understand most people prefer to use their own gear but provision of all top quality Aqua Lung gear can help with the limited baggage allowances that are often imposed on many flights. Let me know if you need more info on any of those boats or the Maldives as a whole. Best, Dom
