I decided to do a little upgrade (OK - maybe not so little) on my UW photography kit and purchased two Sea & Sea YS-D2 strobes (think I got a good deal). I have been using an RX100 with older Sealife strobes having optical cables. I am passing that kit on to my daughter who is a pretty good diver now and wants to take some photos when we're diving. I purchased a case for my Sony A7II (Meikon) which has an electrical sync cable connection. I was thinking I'd need a dual sync cable (electrical) but in carefully reading the YS-D2 manual, I see that two strobes can be "synced" (I guess) using an optical cable between them (page E-2 in the manual). Having used electrical sync cables in the old days (Nikonos), I know they can be fickle. So - I'm thinking the cost of two double cables (spare) versus two single cables (and using optical between the YS-D2's) would be less expensive and perhaps more robust. I've searched as best I can and cannot seem to find out if this would work - and if there would be any delay (electrical to optical) which might lead to unsatisfactory results... Has anyone tried this? If I had an electrical sync cable (my old ones are no longer good - and I tossed them) to try it out, I would, but I don't want to buy one, then find out it doesn't work! Anyone able to confirm??? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bill.... I got impatient and ordered a single sync cable (electrical) figuring that it should likely work (as optical to optical works). Won't be using this stuff until the summer most likely but having made the upgrade jump, I want to take some time getting it working correctly on land before figuring out something's amiss under the water! Thanks again.
