Hi All,

Advice please….

Wife needed a hole in her SS back plate. So I drilled one. With, apparently a ferrous-based bit.

What do I use to clean out the drilled hole of the microscopic iron that is leaving rust streaks on her SS?

Humbly…
DS

Thanks El jefe!

No idea why I didn’t think of emery cloth or sandpaper. Might have been over-thinking… or just not thinking at all!

Cheers,
DS

A ferrous needle file doesnt leave any ferrouses nor does a ferrous drill bit

Stainless steel rusts, the dags in the hole rust

You can buy stainless steel cleaner at marine stores, works brilliantly.

Thanks to all.

I cleaned it out with a piece of sandpaper wrapped around an under-sized bolt then coated it with rust preventative.

Gotta wait until next dive trip for the test, but I remain confident!

Squeeze some lemon juice onto a scotch brite pad and get in there and work it.
The citric acid will dissolve the rust.
Rinse it off and you're done.

Chrome it!!!😂😂😂😂😂

Eric, you are a genius!

I’ll squeeze a lemon for a dap of the juice, and any left over lemon from the squeeze will go toward a homemade whisky sour mix!
