My wife and I dove the Russian Freighter and PC Barge Saturday (4/2). It was a great experience with Captain Gary and the Cat-n-Around Crew. I can't say enough about how professional and fun they are to dive with. He really runs a first class operation. It was about a 45 min ride out to the freighter with perfect 80 deg weather and calm seas. We dropped in and the vis was pretty bad on the surface down to about 40' then it opened up to about 30'-40' feet. We were both wearing 5 mils and hoods. At the wreck 80' I had 66 deg on the computer and there was a school of about a hundred AJ around two to three feet in length that really made the dive. There were so may bait fish that the vis was obscured. One monster Black Grouper came out of one of the boilers late in the dive the master was cursing himself that he did not bring a gun. Also there very nice trigger fish that the wife loved.
We picked up and went about a mile to the PC barge. The temp was somewhat colder around 62-63 at 85 feet. Great AJ and a few yellow tail, and also a monster Red Drum came out from under the barge at the end of the dive that was around 60lbs. We did not sea the Goliath Grouper that everyone talks about but it was a fantastic dive and we hope to dive again with Gary and the Gang in the future.
