Lauderdale Diver is a great local shop - sorry to hear about this. Video available at the newspaper website. Keep an eye out for this stolen merchandise.

Lauderdale Diver hatchet burglary: Man uses hatchet to break into dive shop - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Hatchet-wielding burglar leaves image, broken glass behind at Lauderdale dive shop
No one injured during break-in at Lauderdale Diver

FORT LAUDERDALE —
The surveillance video shows a very efficient burglar: In just two minutes, he wields a hatchet at the front door of a dive shop, uses the weapon again to smash display cases and steals $2,100 in merchandise before running out of the store.

The thieves' haul: a $1,600 VT-3 Oceanic Dive computer and watch that monitors a diver's depths, oxygen tank and underwater time; and a $500 underwater camera.

Negroni hopes area dive shops will be alert for anyone who may try to sell the dive computer, which has the serial number BX-007661.

Watch the idiot tries to register the warranty.

Yikes! Thank god this was only a burglary and not a robbery... But I can't see a crook holding up a dive shop. :idk:

With such traceable items, and CCTV video, my guess is they catch this guy.

I am availvable for a one year undercover opearation to catch this guy. I am thinking, dive every day from Jupiter to Key Largo and try to check out everyone with this type of computer.

Could be just luck, but sounds like the a__hole knew just what to look for

When it comes to dive gear, the average thief likely does not have a clue
