We are going to Fantasy Island the last week of the month. I have been watching the weather down there on weather.com and it does not look good. It is forecast to rain almost every day. Is this the chance of a 5 minute shower or do they usually get more storms this time of year? I'm hoping for hot, sunny, and clear water. This is our first trip to Roatan, so of coarse we are hoping for the best.

Usually, a short storm. Beyond that, I guarantee you there will be weather every day.

We were at Fantasy Island from March 27 to April 3. The weather was great every day except for one. On Tuesday it rained, really only a drizzle, a couple of times for less than a half hour and was cloudy the rest of the day. The temperature was in the low seventies which was not bad but it was a little cool in between dives. Other than that we had sun every day and temps in the low to mid eighties.

The viz when we there varied from day to day and from dive site to dive site. I didn't think it was great but we still probably had 60 to 80 feet. I know I should be happy with this since 20 feet is good in Wisconsin after mid-summer or any rain shower, but I have been used to 100+ feet before in the Caribbean. Have a great time and let us know how your trip went!

In April and May there is NOT "usually" even a short storm on any regular basis, ignore the reports online, you DO realize there is no weather station on the island providing data for these online reports don't you? Historically, April and May are the two driest months of the year on the Island

I haven't seen any rain here in at least 2 weeks, except for a very short "spit". Its so dry, the dirt roads are a dust bowl and the plants are dehydrated. Weather reports about Roatan are unreliable. You'll be fine. If it does rain, its usually only for a few minutes. Have fun.

Good to know.

It seems that most of the Caribbean will show rain almost daily on the forecasts, but for this time of the year rarely materializes.

As I drove from French Harbour back home to Flowers Bay we had a countable number of raindrops on the windshield, upon returning home it was decided it was now much to wet to cut the grass so i hopped in my natural hot tub to cool of and rest before heading out for a dive
