can you believe it, I've been planning this trip for 8 minths, and I can't find my c card. I leave for the airport to roatan in three hours...what am I going to do. I've searched literally every item I own, inside and out....it's lost. I don't have it. It must have fallen out of my wallet at some point, some freak incident that happens in one and a million chances.

So, there's nothing I can do. the card is lost. I am getting on the plane and I don't know if I can dive when i get there. I figure the worst case scenario is I pay for an ow certification...I know I can be looked up on padi.com, but will they do this for me and let me dive? I have my original temp. certification I received when i completed the certification, but on it says void after 90 days.

How screwed am I???? can someone please let me know now cuz I don't want to sit on a plain for 7 hours not knowing if this whole vacation is going to be a bust after all the time and money I've spent. Please help guys...!!!!!1! :(

I don't think you are screwed too bad. Take your logbook. It should suffice. I'd bet the worst you'll have to do is take a refresher. The dive operator may check with PADI. And there is a possibility that the only card that matters is your credit card!

PADI certification card contact:

Call: 800 729 7234 (toll free) or +1 949 858 7234, ext. 2430
Email: research@padi.com

Another option is the instructor or shop who certified you.

Good luck.

I agree Take your log book! I have had operators take one look at my log book and never once ask me to get out my C- card. I have been told by dive operators that your log book says much more about you than a little plastic card! Good Luck!

OH MY GOD...I leave in 2 hours. I haven't even finished packing cuz i'VE BEEN looking for my c card all night

I finally headed to the garbage....I have a garbage bin in my bedroom, next to my dresser. I threw it out tonight while I was getting ready to leave for a week. I decided the only place I haven't checked was the garbage. I started digging through wet, food and cigarette ash...awfel. I found a lighter in the garbage almost immediately.

I had thrown some lighters out w/in the last few weeks because they didn't work anymore, but I hadn't remembered throwing this beige one out. I grabbed it and flicked it and it lit. Now I knew that this lighter fell in the garbage by accident and I still that something else could have also fallen into it. It encouraged me to continue looking. I kept digging and found a grey velvet card holder. I opened it up to business cards. I pulled out the back one and ....WHOOOOOOOO my c card.

I can't believe I found it. My gf is going to be so relieved. so now I can move on and finish packing and get on the plane so I can sleep till landing in roatan.

final note, not of any concern, but I don't smoke. I quit 9 months ago when we decided to learn scuba. I just still have tons of lighters laying around that get used occassionally when people are over. When you smoke for 10 years you get used to having lighters everywhere for convenience sake and I guess I still haven't grown out of that. anyways, I thought I'd add this before i get chastized for smoking and scuba'ing....

Gosh I love this place, I prolly wouldn't have continued looking If I hadn't come here and garnered more fuel for the search. later guys.

Andy,

I understand the lighters being in the trash, but why is there cigarette ash in the trash?

A lot of diving, no time to empty the old ash trays? :)
