It looks like dive shops/boats are back in business in Florida starting May 1, and Airbnbs are accepting reservations as of that same date.

Is anyone aware of travel restrictions imposed by FL, or any state between the DC metro area and FL, that would prevent a road trip to FL to dive? The only restriction of which I am aware is that residents of the NY tri-state area are currently required to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to FL. That list is subject to revision, of course, but at the moment I believe it only covers folks from those states.

I am not asking for advice on social distancing, or the general advisability of staying at home until a vaccine is found for the virus. I am only asking about legal barriers to travel, specifically by car, and to staying in FL for a few days of diving.

And does Florida still quarantine (ask the travelers to agree to self quarantine) travelers from out of state?

The border is a joke. A friend of mine coming in from up north was asked "Where are you coming from." He said Jacksonville. Got waved through.

howdy...make sure you check to make sure the hotels and motels are filling vacancies....sure hate to hear of you living in a Walmart parking lot..

Airbnbs are allowed to take reservations beginning May 1. I have an Airbnb credit from a trip in March that I cancelled due to this whole situation. The Airbnb owner says that she'll gladly book me. Dive shops/charters are reopening May 1.

The main thing holding me back at the moment is that the beaches at Jupiter are still closed. My Airbnb is just a block away from the beach, and I'd be going with my daughter, for whom the beach is a principal attraction. Not worth going if she can't even put a toe in the sand. Hopefully beaches reopen soon, even if it's just to walk/run/swim in the ocean.

I hope to get back down within a couple of weeks, haven't dived since March 6. One of the operators I use in Boynton and one in West Palm are open today, believe operator in Jupiter opens tomorrow.

Let us know how your trip goes

Happy to be a canary in the proverbial coal mine.
