Hi all,

My wife and I will be staying at Royal Decameron Complex in Riviera Nayarit
for 2 weeks starting on June 27th. I am hoping to find out a little about the diving there. Any input about sites or dive operators will be appreciated.

Thanks

Josh

You will want to check in with Sebastian and Ty, they own and operate PuntaMitaExpeditions and they are also the PADI dive training centre for the area. They have a great program and they will be able to assist you with great local information and great tours. You can check them out at the website below
PADI Certifications, Scuba Diving Trips, Marine Safari & Snorkeling, Whalewatching experience, Spearfishing and Underwater Photography

Enjoy your stay in the Riviera Nayarit, you will love it!

We were in Bucerias for 2 weeks in January. There used to be a dive shop there but they have since closed up shop. We had to go into Puerto Vallarta to talk to the dive shops (it's easy to get into town, just catch a bus out on the highway - they run frequently).

I am trying to remember who we talked to - I think it was PVScuba. The guy we talked to was very nice and the operation seemed professional. I know it wasn't Chico's we talked to. You will see alot about Chico's - some good, some bad. We were going to talk to them but didn't.

We wanted to dive with the mantas since they were in the bay at that time of year. However, the water was unusually cold this year and they recommended 7 mm wetsuits. We had just come from the cold northeast and really didn't want to go into water that cold. Sounds crazy now but you know how it is when you are nice and comfortable hanging on a beach having some tropical drinks. A 7mm didn't sound inviting. The visibility was also not great - I believe they said it was about 20-40 feet depending on where you were.

We did end up seeing some mantas during our whale watching tour though so it was OK.

I loved Bucerias and I hope you do too.

Hi Josh,

Just like Diver Di said, we did have cooler water during the winter and spring months. Now with summer fast approaching, the water's warming up nicely. We now have suface temps in the 80s and mid to high 70s below. It's still a good idea to wear a 3mm for a few more days until the water finishes up its warming up.

From all the dive centers in Puerto Vallarta, we'll be the ones closest to you since we're at the Marina, some 5 minutes from the airport.

We'll be happy to show you our underwater sights, so look us up: Puerto Vallarta Scuba Diving and Specialty Diving School: PVSCUBA

happy diving !

Alex from PVScuba

Hi - My family & I are going to Bucerias in June. Are there any dive shops actually in Bucerias? Also - will a 3mm. wetsuit be sufficient? Is there shore diving? Thanks for any help you might be able to give. - Fishy
