Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the Rip Tide BCD (Very Orange) that has been advertised on ScubaToys for a while now?

I need a new BC and I don't really care how ugly or orange it happens to be. I'm not trying to impress anyone with my fashion sense. I find that as I shop around, I'm drawn to this one over and over like a moth to a flame.

Plus, I'm sure my wife will hate it...

I have been into ScubaToys and seen them hanging, if that counts. They are definitely orange. It looks like a great BC, and you will definitely stand out for the crowd, if that is what you are looking for.

I was thinking that if nothing else I would be much harder to lose.

Well, there is a reason that the rescue and USCG use high-vis orange. Do you ocean dive much where you might need to be spotted from the air?

And I imagine it would be less likely to be stolen...

I know what it's like to want something without hard reasons, so I'm trying to help you rationalize it... ;)

Oh, but you will.

Well, I was trying to help, except that...

I think relying on velcro to hold your weights in is a really bad idea, even if it is large patches on both sides of the flap (as appears to be the case here).

Velcro + sand + weight + time = not good in my opinion.

That's a worthy reason right there!

If she's your dive buddy and you do a lot of night diving she'll love it. You'll be so easy to find.

Keep in mind that the Rip Tide (Very Orange) bc… is the same one that is sold by Other Rip Tide dealers in black for over $500.00 and this bc may be the most comfortable jacket style bcd I have used!

Also when the boat is full you can always spot your bcd in the pile!

Let me know if we can help!

Joe

I actually have the riptide BC, in your basic black... I really like mine. It is a back inflate with intigrated weight pockets. Very well built. I would recommend it.
