Is there a guide for effectively rigging your BCD as in holders for lines, snorkel keepers, etc.
I'm a newbie and am looking for a little guidance.

Yes there is a fantastic guide for rigging your gear.

Start out with things rigged is a very standard format... regs over right shoulder, gauges & inflator over left, sausage on left side BC pocket, light on right side etc....

then dive, dive and dive.

If things are in the right place you'll know it when it's natural for you to reach for them right where they are. If not put them where it's comfortable to reach for them for you.

Be sure your buddy knows where they are and that you have made changes.

Reading advice from experienced divers cannot confirm where your gear should go, diving can.

Sorry....

Are you certified yet?

Many answers to these questions will be answered through training as well.

Choose your instructor wisely. My opinion is that the agency NAUI, PADI, SSI or whatever doesn't matter.

Here is a link to one approach for rigging if you are diving a backplate and wing type of BC. At the very least, it may help with some ideas for your gear set up.

I don't follow the entire philosophy of these guys, but they do have some good gear configuration.

1. OxyCheq/DiveRite/ DSS wing of 30 pound lift
2. Hog rig on backplate
3. Avoid all manner of doodads, your "BC" should not be thought of as a Christmas tree from which to hang nifty items from the LDS "gotcha" sucker rack.

N, your posts are a hazard to read while drinking first coffee of the day. I almost painted my white Mac brown after reading the sentence above. :D
