I have used the akona's and the innovative ones in the past with good success. As for gauges I use the Innovative with SS carabiner. Easy to clip to anything, they may hang a little on the surface but the high force ones fix that (but I think they may be shorter).

Can anyone reccomend a retractor for my gauges? I have a Zeagle Brigade and the Aeris 3 gauge setup. Are they all pretty good?

With the same setup, I used the GearKeeper for quite a while (www.gearkeeper.com). It's a high force retractor, and worked well.

Since, however, I've taken out the Atmos II (which I'm *very* happy with), and put it into a wrist boot, taken out the compass, and replaced it with a retractable Suunto SK7 (awesome compass), and put the SPG in a single boot hi-psi hose clipped to a D-ring with a SS snap-bolt, since I only have to glance at it, once in a while. This rig is working out very well for me.

Retractors sound like a great idea to new divers. I bought one when I started out. Its still sitting unused in the bottom of my excess dive gear box.

IMHO they are bulky and dont solve any problem that a simple SS clip can't fix.

Cheers,
Rohan.

Can't help you with a dealer site, however, most retractors sold at a local LDS will do the trick.

I agree that for most accessories a bolt-snap will do the trick, however, for the three-gauge console, I think a retractor is the only way to go. Navigation with the attached compass is next to impossible without a retractor, unless you feel like clipping and unclipping, clipping and unclipping... etc.

Additionally, as a new diver, you're going to be checking your computer much more often, initially, for depth, and stats... (that will reign in, in time), but also much more convenient with a retractor.

MaxForce and Innovative are two other good brands...
