I avoid anything with springs.
Springs, saltwater, and sand are not compatible long term.
(Folding knifes, retractors, bolt snaps, snap links, etc... all bad)

I'm a fan of stainless steel quick links for attaching gear.

For very reasonable prices Strapworks.com will make custom webbing straps in various colors, lengths, and attachment hardware options.
I've had several made for computer consoles, and lights.
Works for me, but probably not everybody.

How do you get your hand in your pocket?

It's not an issue. Drygloves or wetgloves, both fit easily into my drysuit/wetsuit pockets, even with a compass or computer on the back of my hand, there's plenty of room. Maybe my pockets are bigger, or my compass is smaller than yours? For comparison, I've got a Shearwater Teric and a DGX compass. My warm wetsuit is a Deep6 3mm with pockets, my cold wetsuit uses DGX pocket shorts, my drysuit has SeaSkin zip pockets. If photos / measurements would be useful, I'd be happy to oblige.

You're delusionally helpful, but I appreciate the gesture.

Maybe so, I've certainly been accused of worse :rofl3:
