The Endeavor was being used a s cargo transport in support of the British occupation of Newport. I forget, but it might have been used for POWs since it was no longer seaworthy. When the British decided to pullout of Newport, they scuttled the 13 ships to prevent the French and Americans from using the port. What I read was that the ships were pretty much stripped clean before being sunken, so the artifacts left from the historic voyage will be pretty much nails and wood scraps.
