My husband and I soooo want to do Rescue Diver in order to become safer divers but we have been put off so much by the cost, especially as there are 2 of us wanting to do it. Please can anyone tell us if there is anywhere that does it at a reasonable price? We live in the UK but would visit another country if the price was right. I don't particularly want to do it in the UK because of the cold and the bad vis - we are not dry suit trained. I know doing it in another country sounds a bit strange given that I have just mentioned cost but then we would simply combine it with a holiday. Of the holidays we have booked this year it would cost us about £800 total to do it in Tobago and £900 in the Maldives and that is just too much as we wouldn't then be able to do any other diving! :shakehead: Not that safety shouldn't be our prime concern and it is don't get me wrong but there is a limit to how much we want to pay.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved and if anyone can tell me more about what the course actually involves that would be great.

In Thailand it is approx. 260 Euro to make the Rescue Diver.
But usually they do 2 days exercise (some even tell they can do it in 1 day) and 1 day theoretic (including watching the movie).
That quick is in my opinion pointless.
Fazit: before you make it, check what is included (exactly, days, hours etc)

Come to Egypt! :D

My centre charges 380 Euros per person including books, equipment and certification and you will find that a good average for the location. The course is 3-4 days but does not include the EFR (first aid) course. It's a lot cheaper to fly and stay here than Thailand or the Caribbean though!

I don't advertise my centre here because I'm representing myself, not them, and I'm not here to sell stuff, but if you are interested and wish to enquire further, please feel free to PM me.

Cheers,

C

I did mine in the U.S. at a cost of $175.00 USD plus the book.
Not too bad a deal.

I forgot to mention: Specially on the Rescue Diver it is important that the Instructor is good.
Between an Instructor who is doing it like the book on the minimum requirement and an older Instructor who is adding a lot experience and real own experiences is a big difference.

You can do your Rescue course here is South Africa for around 166 pounds a head. At 12 rands to the pound you can incorporate a very nice holiday, scuba diving and maybe some Soccer World Cup action all in one.

Come to Canada! My LDS charges C$399 (including books) which also includes either EFR or O2 provider. We need a couple of more students so my class can start - you'll be just in time for Winterlude! (never mind - you don't dive dry & it's a little chilly right now in a wetsuit :rofl3:)
