PADI Rescue diver requires CPR and first aid training as a prerequisite. The red cross apparently now offers this all online. Is this acceptable for the rescue diver course?

Unless you have somebody supervising your practice it is easy to do the CPR wrong.

Hammet, the short answer is YES. PADI recognizes any major CPR certification.
As others have said, you really should take a hands on CPR course. You can renew online after that but getting over the dummy for a few minutes of 100 compressions a minute will be a big eye opener.

to be clear the requirement is "EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months." Other CPR only training accomodates the Primary care requirement. First Aid training accomodates the secondary care requirment.
