Hello,

I recently purchased an older Datamaster sport dive computer. Seller said it needed new batteries. I followed the advise within a previous post and purchased the batteries that were suggested. After replacing the batteries, the device display now cycles between the low battery indicator and the full display (i.e. all indicators lit).

This occurs without the device being in the water, or connected to a tank.

Did I get hosed on this deal, or am I missing something basic.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm new to diving and this group, so please don't flame me if I'm asking a stupid question.
I've appreciated all the posts on this site, and I hope I can contribute at some point.

Thanks,
Mark

The Datamaster sport is about 15 years old and a battery change is no longer available. This computer had to be returned to Oceanic for battery change, but now the only option through Oceanic is an upgrade.

I would either explain to the seller what the situation is and see if you can return it or take advantage of the upgrade option and save a few bucks on a new computer.

If you got it off of ebay, you may want to use their complaint avenue if you can't come to an agreement with the seller about the problems with the computer. It sounds like you got hosed if the seller said that all it needed was a new battery and that is not the case.

If that fails, write oceanic and email. It may take them a couple of days, but they will get back to you.

Good luck.

The Datamaster Sport has an additional battery (BR2032 with tabs) soldered to the main circuit board. This is not visable without reomving the blue battery housing. This is most likely the source of your "Low Batt" message.

Can you replace the BR2032 and have a working computer? Who knows!

I realize this is an old post, but someone may run into the same issue if they buy one or are contemplating buying one on eBay as Markster did.
