I like the Go Sport fin but not the straps that come with it. For one thing I found them too tight, and I think the crimp holding the bungee to the plastic part may slip over time. I was thinking of replacing the strap with a 1/4 inch bungee wrapped around the pin and fixed with a couple of zip ties. Has anyone tried anything like this?

It appears they attach by pins. You might be able to use regular bungee straps. These are much easier to use than spring straps, last a long time, and are cheap. I no longer tie mine on like the photo, instead I use zip ties.

I use bungee on nearly all of my fins, zip ties work great. I haven’t changed the stock ones on my 3 pair of go/GoSport since the stockers are still working fine.

I don't yet have a pair of Go Sport fins so can't tell if there's enough space between the pin and the fin to slide the bungee through. If yes, then I would first replace the plastic pin with stainless steel, wrap the bungee back around the pin and secure with two zip ties. The bungee should fit through the plastic pull so I would keep that.
