I'm traveling to Playa del Carmen at the end of January but only have two days to dive. We're staying at the Blue Bay Grand Esmerelda in Punta Bete and I need a local dive shop that is safe, reliable and convenient.
I stayed at the Sandos Playacar last year and used the dive shop on site at the resort and they were ok but the convenience of having a dive shop on the resort was great. Apparently the dive shop on my resort only does dives on Mondays and Wednesdays which is too restrictive for me. There is a marina/dive shop very close by called Aqua Inn but I've been reading some really bad reviews. Do I have to go into the city of Playa del Carmen to get a good dive shop?
I dove Barracuda as a first time/resort dive last year and it was amazing but does anyone recommend any other dive sites in this area that are a must see? Since it's such a short trip I want to get the best dive(s) possible. A night dive would also be great.
As a new diver (just certified in Sept) I would greatly appreciate any tips or suggestions.
