You really need your fins if you are in water too deep to stand up in. Without your fins, you are at the mercy of the current.

You'll find it gets much easier to quickly put the fins on while standing up and holding a rail. The first few times it seems you are going to fall over, but after a few attempts, it will take just a few seconds, and then you're in the water.

Have fun on your OW dives.

ah see sorry didn't even think of boat dives....only been on a few myself and even then I stood for most of the gearing up. So let us know how it goes ok?

Hi All,

I'm finished with all my confined pool dives. We did the roll back entry last time and that was fun, although I felt extremely apprehensive about it before I did it. I didn't like the thought of entering the water backwards, but it turned out to be very easy.

I started to get stressed a couple of times, but imagined my instructor as a synchonized swimmer (with a big smile and tiarra) rather than a scowler in black neoprene. I almost started laughing a couple of times, but it sure relieved my stress!

There is an optional pool session on Tuesday night and I want to attend to work on my bouyancy. I was working on the budha float where you cross your legs and grab your fintips in order to go up and down by breathing. I was tilting backwards with my head leaning back about 45 degrees and my rear tilting forward. I was using 14 lbs (down from 20) of weight with 4 in my bc weight pockets in the front and 10 on a weight belt. I did this because we had to do bc removal underwater and I didn't want to put all my weight in my bc (in case I accidentally let go of it).

Any suggestions for placing my weights where I'm not tilting?

Thanks!
