We are going to Cayman for a day in May. We are looking for a relaxing beach bar and grill to hang out in for a few hours to eat drink and be merry in. We want a very reasonably priced place, preferrably with happy hour all day.
The second choice would be a place that does not have a view of the water.

So please let us know if you know a favorite place that fits what we are looking for. We just do not want to be ripped off with high prices. Thanks, randy

I assume that you're going on a cruise since you're going to be there for a day.

I would try the Paradise Restaurant By The Sea (formerly Club Paradise, formerly Paradise Bar and Grill). It's right next to the old cruise dock and on your way to the Sunset House. Be aware that there is no sidewalk to Sunset House, so you're at the mercy of tourists driving on the "wrong" side of the road if you're going to walk there. Neither of the places mentioned is a "beach" bar. You'll need to head in the other direction for the beach.

Be forewarned that reasonably priced is relative. If you're looking for $1.00 beer and free appetizers, you're heading to the wrong island.

Have fun and enjoy.

Clearly, it is the correct side of the road. Apparently, North Americans have taken to driving on the wrong side, for reasons known only to themselves. :blinking:

I donno. My momma taught me that there's right and there's wrong. If you're not drving on the right side of the road you must be...:)

To emphasize the point, there are no cheap drinks in Cayman. All the liquor and almost all of the beer is imported and subject to heavy import duties. CI$3 (US$3.75) for a beer is a good price at a bar.

Beach bars have to pay high rents and charge accordingly.

Guess we will try the Sunset House Bar and the Paradise Restaurant bar when we are there. Already been to Hell and the turtle farm. Already did a cruise dive on the banana boat dive site. That is about all you can do on a cruise stopover. Thanks for all your responses. I really appreciate it. Randy
