Are there any special tools/sealants required to add HP or LP hoses to a 1st stage? Is it nothing more than a pair of pliars?

Pliers tend to score the metal that you put them on. Wrench is MUCH better.

uhh. pliars? You mean a wrench, right? IIRC you need 5/8th.

You also need an alan-key to get the plugs out of the 1st stage. The IKEA tool (yes, I'm serious) are the perfect size if you have one kicking around. Otherwise any hardware store will have what you need.

And a tip. When you put the hoses in just give them a nudge with the wrech. The have O-rings on them to make the seal and they don't need to be incredibly tight. If you over-do it then you can damage the 1st stage. It's only made of brass.

Some require 5/8, others 9/16, I believe there are a few with other sizes as well.
