I currently own two Zeagle DS-4 regulators. My wife and love them and their performance. In the future with more training I am interested in diving double tanks. I would take my wife's DS-4 and use both, I guess I would have to get her something since she is a good dive buddy! The regs are yoke type. I know I will need DIN so can they be converted? I know there are yoke to DIN converters, but can they be truely changed not just converted? What do you recommend?

As long as they are identical to the Apeks DS4, there is both a converter and adapter available. The adapter is a screw on accessory for using a DIN regulator with a yoke valve, and the converter allows you to remove the yoke fitting from the regulator and genuinely make a DIN regulator out of it. They sell at DiveInn for about $35 each.

and you don't necessarily need a DIN reg for doubles. You can do without but I would still recommend DIN for any diving.

Yeah the conversion is extremely simple. I like 300DIN for everything too.

Since your wife already has DS4's, you might want to get two more DS4's for interchangability and standardization. On the other hand, the TX100's are quite nice for doubles too -- slightly better hose routing. Unfortunately, the current TX100's have that 1/2" port, but that's not an issue if you're using argon -- only if using backgas for suit inflation.
It appears as though the new Zeagle Flathead has changed it's first stage to having all 3/8" ports. I've been doing some research and talking over the past few days, and Apeks is now considering discontinuing the 1/2" ports on their regs. This would be great, but who knows when it would happen.

As it stands know, I prefer the DS4's for their standard ports, extreme reliability, superb performance, and lower cost. Maybe someday I'll pick up a couple TX100's if they get rid of the 1/2" ports.

Good luck.

Mike

Anyone interested in having Apeks change their regs over to standard 3/8" ports should shoot them an e-mail to help persuade them ;).

All you use to hear everyone rave about is MK20/G250s. I want to know if anyone has a real problem with the s600 for tech diving, other than the price( I buy keyman). I setting up now for for my TDI courses and I will be using 2 MK25/S600s w MK2+/R380s for deco regs.

ALso can anyone tell me why when I try to subcribe to General Tech in order to post a new thread it just keeps coming up and telling me to log in over and over? I can log in just fine unless I want to start a thread or subscribe.
