Last month (December 08) I had the pleasure of staying a few nights at the Reef House in Roatan and I wanted to make sure people know about this wonderful place. The rooms were comfortable, the food was great (and plentiful!), and the diving was beautiful. One of my favorite parts was the pool located right in front of the hotel. It is essentially a large enclosed area of sea with docks on the side. At night we take a flashlight out and without even getting into the water saw octopi, brittle stars, queen conchs, and turtles! The owners work with a sea turtle conservation program (ProTECTOR- TAPS). Data is collected on the turtles in pool and then the turtles are released. This is very important because there is very little known about the turtle populations of the Bay Islands. I highly recommend staying here.
